HyperDrive USB

By Ed Hardy • 8:13 am, August 7, 2023

The just-launched HyperDrive Next 10 Port Business Class USB-C Dock can handle dual 4K monitors, and it offers multiple 10Gbps USB ports and a detachable USB-C cable.

It’s part of the new HyperDrive Next collection, which also includes a range of USB-C hubs plus an NVMe SSD enclosure with data transfer speeds up to 40Gbps.

For years, Hyper has offered top-tier accessories for Mac and other platforms. On Monday, it unveiled a new collection. “HyperDrive Next is a game-changing line of connectivity solutions that redefines performance and data transfer speeds, encouraging users to go beyond their devices’ boundaries and embrace innovation,” the company promises.

In addition, the products are made with up to 100% recycled aluminum and up to 85% recycled plastic.

A highlight of the new collection is the HyperDrive Next 10 Port Business Class USB-C Dock, which is loaded with high-end features.

The list starts with a pair of HDMI ports that support 4K monitors, one at 60Hz and the other at 30Hz. This works even on M1 and M2 Macs that aren’t supposed to offer more than one external display.

There’s also a pair of USB-A ports with a USB-C port that all support 10Gbps transfers. A second USB-C port handles 100W power pass through, or there’s optional DC power.

The dock also sports an SD card reader that maxes out at 312 MBps, a Gigabyte Ethernet port and a 3.5mm audio combo jack.

It connects to Mac, Windows or Chromebook with a removable USB-C cable. And there’s even Kensington and Targus security lock support.

HyperDrive Next 10 Port Business Class USB-C Dock costs $199.99.

Also in Hyper’s new product collection is the HyperDrive Next 11 Port USB-C Hub. It has many of the same features, and adds a second 10Gbps USB-C port and a microSD card reader.

One of the USB-A ports is slower, though. And there are no security locks or DC power. That lowers the price to $119.99.

In addition, the HyperDrive Next collection also has multiple other USB-C hubs with configurations ranging from ten ports down to four.

HyperDrive also launched on Monday the HyperDrive Next USB4 NVMe SSD Enclosure. Snap in an M.2 NVMe SSD up to 16TB in capacity and transfer data at up to 40Gbps.

The IP55-rated enclosure is $119.99.
